About Mulberry Island Stables

We were established in 2023 after being asked to give our first kid lessons and we've been doing it ever since. We have 2 instructors Kristen McCoy has been riding for about 15 years now and she focuses in begginer lessons along with being a teacher at West Craven Middle School. Wyatt McCoy has been riding for about 8 years now and focuses in begginer, intermediate and Advanced lessons with Ranch, Hunter Jumpers, Gaming and Western pleasure. STALL- 12x12 stall - Feedings 2x daily - Feeds CPC Senior/ Standlee Alfalfa Pellets & Oats or your feed at your expense- Stalls cleaned daily- 12 acre Pasture turnout with a mixed herd of other horses- Blanketing/Fly gear applied in reason
PASTURE- 12 acre Pasture turnout with a mixed herd or personal/ paddock turnout- Feedings 2x daily - Feeds CPC Senior/ Standlee Alfalfa Pellets & Oats for your feed at your expenseBlanketing/ Fly gear applied in reason
INCLUDED IN BOTH- 50x175 foot maintained arena- 60ft Roundpen- Show/Clinic and other events - Owner/Instructor lives on site - Lessons Available with your horse focusing in Ranch, Western Pleasure, Hunter Jumpers and problem solving - Trails onsite throughout the year
Offering at your own expense- 7 week farrier schedule done by Donald Broadway- 2 month schedule magnawave therapy done by Jessica Manning at Manning the Pulse- Outside Trainers, Farriers, therapy workers welcome- Vet when needed for coggins, Teeth etc- Coggins required yearly

The Passion Behind the Business
Captain
Captain has been with us since the start. He had been a lesson horse just about his whole life teaching people how to ride, jump and barrel race. You can see captain in his free time enjoying his retirement sleeping in the pasture enjoying the sun
Selah
Selah is Wyatt's personal horse but sometimes she dips her feet into a lesson she has carried him around through ranch classes, jumping classes and barrel patterns!.
Red
Red has seen the scarier parts of life he is 24 years old and is a rescue from Horses of Pamlico etc. Although he has seen the tougher things in life that's doesn't stop him from being a great teacher of how people should treat horses. Fun Fact: even though he is 24 don't let that fool you he can out jump and out run alot of horses
Ellie ( June 2000-October 2024)
As the grandma and head mare of the herd Ellie has earned her retirement spot from years of a extensive show career and lesson horse career. She is a Registered Quarter Horse that was a competitive western pleasure shower back in her younger years. Now she is the official mascot of the barn and lives her days in her stall or eating grass out with the othersUnfortunately we lost Ellie in October of 2024 due to age and severe arthritis we will never forget her and will always love her.
Dancer
Dancer lived his days before as a trail horse. Now he's teaching people how to ride a more forward horse along with being a Jumper and barrel racer. Fun Fact Dancer is a Palomino
Zoom
Zoom also has seen the tougher things life like his friend Red. He is being trained for ranch and jumping and is doing very well. As an 8 year old mini he catches the eye of everyone that sees him
Trooper
Trooper is the newest and by far came the farthest ad well. He is originally from Montana but we got him from Fort Worth Texas. He is a 8 year old stocky ranch horse that is sure to catch your eye. He will also be trained in the hunter and dressage field ad well. Fun Fact: Trooper is a registered Paint!
Training
I will work with horses that have a variety of problems any thing from they need help collecting that gait a little to needing your horse started undersaddle I have experience with rescue horses I have two rescues that are lesson horses in my barn as well.
